EDMONTON – Less than two months after a massive blaze destroyed its temporary thrift shoppe, the Bissell Centre has reached its fundraising goal to restore the centre.

Following the second fire, the centre was flooded with support from the public, eager to donate goods.

Two weeks ago, an online fire relief fundraiser was launched in hopes of raising $25,000 to re-open the doors of the original thrift shoppe. And on Friday, the Bissell Centre announced it reached and surpassed its goal.

“Together, we raised $33,720!! That’s $8,720 over and above our $25,000 goal. We are so grateful!” the Bissell Centre’s website read.

The Bissell Centre hopes to reopen the doors of its thrift shoppe by late October.
